15 years for musician who killed student over joke

A MUSICIAN who stabbed a "gentle giant" university student to death when he didn't like a joke about his skateboard has been jailed for 15 years

Luke O'Connor, 19, who was praised by a judge for standing "up to bullies", was set on by Shiloh Pottinger, 20, with a 13-inch flick knife.

Luke, who attended Manchester Metropolitan University, was killed after Pottinger overreacted "violently and unpredictably" to a comment about his skateboard made by Luke's friend.

Pottinger, a record producer, threatened Luke and pal Charlie Robertson but, when the business student stood up to him, pulled out his knife.
