1 in 5 police plan to quit in next 2 years

THE country faces losing a fifth of its police in just two years as officers prepare to quit over pay and morale.

A poll carried out by the Police Federation of England and Wales found 22% plan to resign by then, up from 18% last year.

Around 85% said they were not fairly paid given the dangers they faced, with 15% revealing that they'd suffered one or more injuries in the past year.

Eighteen per cent said they never or almost never had enough money cover essentials.
