THE long dry spell has exposed a historic bridge usually submerged in water.

- ABBIE WIGHTWICK

An aerial view shows the two-arched stone bridge believed to date back to 1800.

It can be seen clearly owing to low water levels at the Llwyn-on reservoir in the Taf Fawr valley near Merthyr Tydfil Wales. The bridge has been under water at the reservoir since 1911, according to the National Monuments Record of Wales.

It has been revealed during other prolonged dry spells, most recently in 2022 and also in the drought of 1976.

This year, March was the driest on record since 1944. Warm conditions in May again saw Wales starved of rain.
