Single-parent family charity 'at real risk' in funding crisis

A MUCH-LOVED charity that has supported thousands of single-parent families over the past 25 years is facing closure unless urgent funding can be found.
Crewe-based South Cheshire CLASP, founded in 1997 from the front room of a mum's home, now supports more than 200 lone-parent families a year through free counselling, parenting workshops, peer support groups and activities for children.
But without fresh funding, the charity could be forced to close its doors in 2026. "We're a small organisation with a big impact," explained project manager Sue Chapman. "We only need around £200,000 a year to keep going.
