Waste site to expand to increase its capacity

EXPANSION plans have been revealed for Tom White Waste, the waste and recycling business owned by Coventry City Council. The announcement comes just days after the annual performance report showed the company ended the financial year with a cash generated profit of £1.26m.

At the latest meeting of Coventry City Council's shareholder committee, councillors were told extra equipment was needed to cope with demand and to improve the firm's environmental credentials. Grant McKelvie, the managing director of Coventry Municipal Holdings which is the parent company set up to manage the council's investments including Tom White Waste and Coombe Abbey, explained that money for the additional equipment would not come from the council's coffers.
