'MAGNIFICENT' RESPONSE TO CHRISTMAS ΤΟΥ APPEAL

THEY admit that it is hard not to be touched when looking at the hall at the Salvation Army in Nuneaton.

At one point, Major David Stephenson and his wife Joy were concerned that the annual toy appeal would not have enough donations.

They faced a growing list of referrals for help officially 750 children but this could rise. Having launched the annual appeal in October, Major Joy Stephenson said: “We were beginning to think that we wouldn't have enough.”

But then it changed and an influx of donations came in. Looking out across the hall with tables full of brand new presents and boxes upon boxes still to be opened, Major Joy Stephenson beamed: "It's magnificent isn’t it.”
