Lightning strikes but Blaze storm back in warm-up game

THE Genting Casino Coventry Blaze began their preseason with a 7-4 victory over the NIHL champions Milton Keynes Lightning on Friday night.

The Blaze had trailed 2-O but goals from Colton Saucerman (2), Matthew Geason, William Boysen, Elijah Barriga, Mack Stewart and Grant Mismash gave Blaze a hard-fought win.

Head coach Kevin Moore said: “I thought it was a solid learning game for us.

“We had a really hard practice this morning, so | expected we might start slow - and we did. But that was good for us in terms of mentality, and as the game went on we were able to establish our offensive identity. Defensively, there are some things to clean up, but that’s what these games are for.”
