Lampard's wake-up call leads to Rudoni screamer

Lampard revealed the inspiration behind Jack Rudoni’s sensational top corner screamer for Coventry City that helped sink West Brom at The Hawthorns.First half goals from Ephron Mason-Clark and Rudoni put the Sky Blues on course for the full three points against West Brom - a feat they hadn’t achieved at The Hawthorns since 2007.

Sky Blues’ midfielder Rudoni hadn't found the back of the net since he bagged a brace against QPR in August, having then missed a chunk of games through injury and then struggled to hit top form since his return - unable to hit the heights of last season when he scored ten goals.

Lampard spends a lot of time with Rudoni on the training field trying to help him develop his talent and sent him an inspirational video ahead of the 2-0 win at The Hawthorns.

“We work a lot on finishing,” said Lampard. “I sent him a little message on Saturday morning for him to wake up to, actually, but it was to try and inspire him. But we work a lot and he's got talent. You need good players and you need talent to be able to be good in my role, and Rudi is one of those.
