Cov radio star giving young people chance to shine in city
Coventry Telegraph
|March 20, 2026
COVENTRY radio legend John 'JD' Dalziel is dipping into his own pocket and launching a new bursary programme to help young people access theatre training and performing arts opportunities.
The John Dalziel Bursary Programme, created in partnership with Starmaker Theatre Company, will help ensure that talented young people from across Coventry and Warwickshire can take part in theatre training regardless of their financial circumstances.
The bursary is funded personally by JD, who has spent more than 25 years broadcasting and presenting across the region. He says it will allow him to 'give something back' to the city that made him.
JD said: "Coventry has given me so much. I've been incredibly lucky to spend more than 25 years broadcasting to my home city and the wider region.
