Iphela driver gunned down

A leader of the Nyanga Community Policing Forum (CPF) is calling for calm after a local taxi (iphela) driver was shot dead at the corner of Sithandathu and Emms drives on Thursday 22 May.

Nyanga CPF secretary Dumisani Qwebe said they are dismayed by the incident and urged the law enforcement agencies to do their best in bringing culprits to book.

“It is rare to hear about amaphela fighting each other and because of that we can’t suspect anything for now. Maybe it was a robbery, we don't know,” said Qwebe.

He appealed to the amaphela operators to handle this matter with care to safeguard the commuters.
