Of the many investments we make in the City’s public facilities - sports grounds, swimming pools, parks, community halls and more - one that means a lot to me is the money we spend on our public libraries.
We have 102 libraries across the metro, and they are among the most important public facilities we manage.
These are far more than simply places to take out a book: Our libraries are where people get free access to the internet; where they research and apply for jobs; where children can study and make use of learning support programmes.
