Having successfully avoided the ubiquitous “pub quiz” for the duration of my life, | never did find out who came second in the men’s pole vault in the 1952 Olympics.

But | came across a good boring question for a quiz: What have the following got in common - Catalonia, Taiwan, Scotland, Palestine and Kurdistan?

The pub quiz answer book suggests they are all regions which have sought greater self-determination or independence.
