The BRS has alleged that the State government has virtually bid goodbye to the Rythu Bandhu scheme, citing the municipal election code and the nearing end of the financial year as excuses to deny benefits to farmers.

Party leaders said that with the Model Code of Conduct in force for municipal elections, Rythu Bandhu assistance is unlikely to be released even in February. They warned that if the government fails to disburse the scheme in March as well, the ongoing financial year will come to an end, paving the way for a new Budget and effectively shutting the door on Rythu Bandhu payments.
