Ramaphosa must face Marikana widows

THIRTEEN years have passed since the horror of Marikana. Thirty-four mineworkers were shot down in full view of the world. To this day, their widows and children are still waiting. Waiting for justice, compensation and waiting, most of all, for President Cyril Ramaphosa to come and face them.

What happened in August 2012 was not a clash between criminals and police. It was the slaughter of workers who wanted nothing more than a living wage. They went underground every day into conditions most of us would never survive. They asked for dignity.
