Norris holds nerve as teams gamble in Monaco

LANDO Norris resisted intense pressure to claim a well-deserved victory for McLaren ahead of Ferrari’s local hero Charles Leclerc in Sunday’s unusually chaotic and tactical Monaco Grand Prix.

The Briton crossed the line 3.131 seconds clear of last year’s winner, with McLaren teammate and championship leader Oscar Piastri completing the podium in third. Four-time world champion Max Verstappen of Red Bull finished fourth, ahead of seven-time title-holder Lewis Hamilton in the second Ferrari.

Norris became the first McLaren driver to win in Monaco since Hamilton in his title-winning 2008 season. It was Norris’ first victory at the iconic street circuit, his second win of the season, and the sixth of his Formula One career. French rookie Isack Hadjar impressed in sixth for Racing Bulls, followed by Esteban Ocon (Haas), Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls), and the Williams duo of Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz, who completed the top ten.

The race got underway under clear, dry skies, with teams opting for a wide range of tyre strategies in the first-ever mandatory two-stop Monaco Grand Prix.
