National Trust plans for the future after £10 million donation

BIGGEST GIFT IS 'HUGE BOOST'
THE National Trust has announced it has received a record-breaking £10 million donation, as it sets out plans for 2026, from beaver releases to more visitor seating in stately homes.
The "unrestricted" donation from philanthropist Humphrey Battock which the charity is free to spend as it sees fit is the biggest cash gift in the trust's 131-year history and is a "huge boost", according to director-general Hilary McGrady.
The announcement comes as the National Trust outlined its programme for 2026, with plans to restore nature, end unequal access to natural and cultural heritage and inspire more people to care for the world around them.
Mr Battock said: "The National Trust represents what is best about our society, preserving our shared heritage for all the people.
"For over 130 years, it has been at the vanguard of progress for the United Kingdom.
