While other parish elections in the district are uncontested, this flexible voting pilot will proceed in Royston to make voting more convenient and accessible for those with busy schedules. Three designated hubs will be open across the town on Saturday, May 2, and Sunday, May 3 - the weekend prior to polling day on Thursday, May 7.

Early voting hubs at Coombs Community Centre; Royston Leisure Centre and Royston Town Hall will be open between 10am and 3pm.

Melanie Stimpson, returning officer at North Herts Council, said: "Royston Town Council are the only elections being contested in North Herts this year.

"Offering early voting is a fantastic way of being able to fit this around your weekend plans.

"This year, electors have the choice of voting over three days rather than trying to find time to vote on a Thursday or nominate someone to vote on their behalf.
