As the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) takes on an increasingly complex mandate in safeguarding public health, it is making a concerted push to bolster its human resources.

With 942 posts currently filled out of a sanctioned strength of 1,271, the department is working to bridge the gap by bringing in skilled technical experts and frontline inspectors.

The shortage of personnel has posed challenges in meeting regulatory demands such as inspections, laboratory testing, licensing, and enforcement. Recognising this, the FDA has made workforce strengthening a strategic priority. Recruitment drives are targeting professionals with expertise in food science, pharmacology, microbiology, and related disciplines to enhance its technical capacity.
