|March 20, 2026
PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos has ordered the Philippine Army (PA) to continue its campaign against "internal security threats" amid recent coup rumors circulating online.
-
"The Philippine Army must continue to build on the significant gains that we have achieved in internal security and work with law enforcement agencies to address emerging threats," the Chief Executive said during the 129th Philippine Army Founding Anniversary celebration at the Philippine Army Headquarters in Taguig City last Thursday.
He noted the Department of National Defense (DND) as well as other branches of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), which includes PA, "are monitoring developments on the ground" on possible internal security threats.
Marcos recognized the important role of PA in safeguarding the country’s borders by protecting its maritime borders and anticommunism efforts.
