LEADERS OF SIX COUNCILS ASKING FOR THE PUBLIC'S FEEDBACK ON LOCAL GOVERNMENT REORGANISATION PLANS

RESIDENTS, businesses and organisations in East Staffordshire are being asked for their views on the future of local government in the area.

The borough council is one of six authorities in Southern and Mid Staffordshire who have been working together as part of plans for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR).

The leaders of the six councils have now asked for public feedback on proposals which would abolish the lower-tier authorities in 2028.

A survey has been launched to gather this feedback, and there will be a range of other ways for residents to share their views, which could include local drop-in sessions and community events.

LGR is taking place across the country and will see unitary councils created that will cover everything from household waste collections and fixing roads, to street cleaning and looking after elderly and vulnerable people.
