Go indie for great games at bargain prices
IT might be the shortest month of the year, but February is a month that hits hard in the Mullin household.
As well as a glut of family celebrations, the car’s MOT, tax and insurance are all due - leaving precious little to splurge on the latest AAA+ games.
But that’s why indie games are so great, more pocket friendly titles that really give their big studio counterparts a run for their money.
There are a few gems out this month, with gritty sci-fi RPG Menace going into early access, short, sharp but sweet horror thrills with The Oily Deep, and dark, profanity laden action with Mewgenics.
(PEGI TBC) PC Price: £34.99
Sci-fi fans who love a deep gaming experience should take a look at this title, which has just gone into early access.
Menace is a turn-based tactical RPG set in an isolated star system where a strange new threat is emerging.
You command a strike force of marines, tasked with taking on the alien threat and stopping it from infiltrating further into the galaxy.
Each procedurally generated operation calls for different tactics, and you'll find yourself recruiting soldiers from some dubious pools, including mercenaries and criminals.
This game is from Overhype Studios, the developer behind 2017’s Battle Brothers.
