LOCAL CRICKET

ALREWAS sit on top of the Beechwood Mazda Derbyshire Premier Division after making it three wins from three.

Gareth Woolley was the main man this time as he scored 97 from 117 balls, with six fours and five sixes in a total of 288-8 which proved 134 too many for home side Swarkestone.

Alrewas lost two early wickets but Woolley added 93 for the third with Jamie Goodwin (44 from 59 balls), then 107 with Stephen Cole (44 from 52 balls) for the fourth.

Ben Foley chipped in 35 as Oscar Gaunt battled away for the home side, taking 6-59.

Swarkestone were undone by Faren Price’s excellent opening spell of 4-22 from eight overs which saw them at 41-4.

Harry White scored 56 but Foley mopped up the tail with 3-26 as Swarkestone were all out for 154.

Rolleston’s batting was much improved as they made 264-4 away to Ockbrook & Borrowash - but they still fell to a third straight defeat, as Ockbrook knocked off the target with five wickets down.
