CAPTAIN Alex Brown led from the front as Rolleston grabbed a lifeline in their bid to stay in the Beechwood Mazda Derbyshire Premier Division.

The opening bowler came up with a superb spell of 5-22 from 10 overs as Cutthorpe were blown away for 92, losing by 107 runs after being set 199 all out.

Choosing to bat, Rolleston had to work hard for their runs, Richard Green making 39 and Sam Bates 33, while Ali Jahangir took 3-26.

When Cutthorpe replied, they were reduced to 5-3 as Brown took two quick wickets and opening partner Graham Dent one.

Brown's third and fourth wickets then had them at 32-5 and there was no way back, only Ed Barlow resisting for long with 37 from 60 balls.

Dent grabbed the last wicket to finish with 2-21 from 7.5 overs, Archie Griffiths had 2-25 and Thaveesha Abhishek 1-6 from six overs.

The result puts Cutthorpe on the bottom and Rolleston six poiints above them with six games left, although victory for Belper Meadows kept them 19 ahead of Rolleston in third bottom with two to go down.
