A DOG-FRIENDLY WEEK IN THE COTSWOLDS IS DREAMY AND STRESS-FREE FOR FAYE PRESTON

THE Cotswolds often sells itself as an upmarket location for romantic mini-breaks, with cosy country pubs, tea rooms, galleries and farmers' markets.

As someone who likes to holiday with their canine companion, I wondered if the welcome would be warm for those with wagging tails. Hotels are a no-no for a rescue hound like Riley, with his slightly unpredictable quirks.
But a self-catering stay in the centre of Stow-on-the-Wold, proved to be the perfect pet-friendly base.
MONDAY: We arrive at Flat 1, Martins House (booked through StayCotswold), an elegantly decorated apartment tucked down a quaint alleyway, a few steps from town.
With exposed stone walls, a wood burner, and decorated in soft blues and pinks, it was everything we'd hoped for. Sleeping four, with pets welcome, it was ideal for days exploring and nights snuggled up on the sofa. Both bedrooms have en-suites with rainfall showers. Outside was a small courtyard with tables and chairs - a safe, enclosed space for Riley.
TUESDAY: We head into Stow for breakfast at Coach House Coffee. Riley snaffles his treat from the counter - a lovely touch that tells us our dog is no bother at all.
