What future for Homo Sapiens if we do not limit what we do?

HERE has been much detailed discussion in the Bristol Post over the last few years on the subject of, in particular, climate change and the need to not alter the composition of the earth’s atmosphere so much, that the present living things on the planet, could no longer survive.

Homo Sapiens (that is us humans) have been about for something like two thousand centuries. If you consider a generation is 25 years, that is about 8,000 generations.

For the vast majority of this time there were not that many of us and our brains and engineering knowledge had not advanced very much, so virtually all the energy required to produce things, came from the muscles of humans and beasts of burden. Four generations back in my ancestry, all were farm workers in Dorset and history records what a hard existence they had.

I was born near the end of the first half of the 20th century and in my early years suffered the privations of living in a country totally involved in fighting a world war and being accommodated in a primitive country cottage.
