Tuned in Singer says city was the perfect backdrop to his latest video
Bristol Post
|August 06, 2025
BRISTOL'S landmarks and street scenes are famous as providing the backdrop to slowed-down hip hop, drum 'n' bass and grime, but now the likes of the Suspension Bridge, the coloured houses and Banksy's artwork are the setting for a very different kind of music video.

Aspiring music star Johnny Gurnett's new release is called Bristol City and is an upbeat new-style of song with a bit of a country twist.
Despite its name, Johnny's new release has nothing to do with the football club based at Ashton Gate. It's more of a poppy number telling the story of bumping into his crush at Bristol Pride in 2024, rather than a stirring scrumpy and western anthem charting Bristol City's surprise run to the playoffs in April and May this year.
Johnny is originally from Essex and now lives in Cardiff, and has had a promising start to his music career - his first single was featured in the BBC One series Lost Boys and Fairies.
Bristol City is his first new release for a year, and marks a return with a more country pop feel.
