GRACE MERNAGH enjoyed a night out with a Spanish theme that was tempting and tasty
WITH Grandma safely installed in babysitting mode, my husband and I left the house and made a beeline to the historic King Street in Bristol.
One would assume on witnessing the haste with which we left the house that we had not ventured out together in quite awhile. One would be correct in that assumption.
It was a beautiful evening and I had been looking forward to this all day. Bristol steakhouse Bar+Block have created a new summer menu - Inspired by Spain - and I was keen to try their tapas and drinks selection. Our swift exit meant we were a little too keen and arrived in town a little early for our reservation. Not a problem. We parked ourselves in The Famous Royal Navy Volunteer, around the corner from the restaurant, and enjoyed a pint and a chat that didn’t centre around childcare arrangements/dishwasher loading/bin day or who is winning at being more tired (me).
Bar+Block is a steakhouse chain with locations across the UK, including Bristol and Bath. This one is situated in the Premier Inn on King Street and was quiet when we arrived. It being Father's Day, I imagine a lot of families would have eaten earlier, as the restaurant also serves Sunday lunch. We were greeted warmly by staff and were seated at a little booth near the entrance. On a busy day, this may have proven irritating with diners arriving and being seated around us, but as it was quiet, we had no complaints.
