Landlords to leave

'Roadworks cost us £38k in lost trade'

LANDLORDS at a pub on the outskirts of Bristol have announced they will leave the popular venue tomorrow after roadworks cost them £38,000 in lost trade.

The Old Inn at Congresbury, a 16th-century inn which sits between Bristol and Weston-super-Mare in the North Somerset village, will close tomorrow with the team admitting that the “nail in the coffin” was recent roadworks on a major A road.

In a post to the pub's Facebook page, the team - including current landlord Kirstie said: "Friday night is our final curtain. Friday night will be the last night we will be open. This departure date is a lot sooner than expected but something completely outside of our control.

"I have absolutely loved running this pub. It's a beautiful pub with a lot of history, situated in a fantastic village and we definitely have the best bunch of people drinking in here.

"In the short time I've been here I've met many special people and made some friends for life. I will be sad to leave the bar."
