Premier Combination Wintle strikes twice as Iron men see off Greyfriars
Bristol Post

RON Acton are up and running with a prized Premier Division win behind them at the first attempt.
Joe Wintle struck twice and Dean Preddie scored Acton’s other goal at Lodge Road as their team, who experienced a sparkling few opening weeks of the last campaign before eventually settling for a fifth spot finish under Chris Sweet's stewardship, edged a 3-2 victory over Greyfriars Athletic guests responding with Luke Magee's second-half brace.
Hallen Reserves, beaten 3-1 away by DRG Frenchay on the opening afternoon, bounced back to beat Patchway Town 4-2 at Moorhouse Lane HQ, courtesy of Jamal Bwanamkuu, Will Bolshaw, Logan Heyns and Archie Parry efforts, while George Bayley and Martins Olaniyi scored for a Patch-way team still to register a point three games in.
Another Combination topflight side savouring the sweet taste of a maiden win were Longwell Green Sports Reserves thanks to a 2-0 Shellards Road success over Bradley Stoke Town triers seeking a first victory after three fruitless attempts.
Goals both sides of the break by Rowan Smith and Harrison Neill did the damage for a Longwell team now preparing for an intriguing GFA Senior Amateur Cup opener on Saturday, away against Saints Old Boys of Bristol Downs League Division One (2pm).
