The Bristol-based shot put star, 22, banked bronze in the F44 event after a personal best of 12.11m as her first attempt proved enough for a maiden global gong.
Oduwaiye fouled with all five of her remaining throws but that did not matter one bit as her initial distance was unable to be matched by fourth-placed Samantha Heyison, who could only clock 11.33m.
Oduwaiye admits she was nervous the night before but remaining relaxed when she stepped out at the 60,000-seater Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium was the key to her success.
