The Washing Machine Project is on a mission to send world-first flat-packable and hand-operated washing machines to the Palestinian territory.

The washing machines will be distributed to healthcare facilities, schools and community centres, fulfilling a ‘high priority’ need by providing people with “hygiene, dignity and time.”

The Washing Machine Project's founder, Navjot Sawhney, said: “Everyone has seen the news.

“In Gaza, the ordinary activity of washing clothes has become a daily crisis.

“Families are handwashing clothes in overcrowded spaces in hospital and without reliable electricity, privacy and safety.

“Laundry is about hygiene health, dignity and time - mainly for women.

“We will do anything we can to support the people in Gaza”
