EXPERIENCED Bristol Rovers defender Tom Lockyer was full of praise for “unplayable” Fabrizio Cavegn after the Swiss forward grabbed a hat-trick for the Gas on New Year's Day.

The striker was the difference maker against Shrewsbury Town with all of his goals coming in the second half of the 3-0 win as Rovers secured a first win in 14 games.

The 23-year-old attacker made the most of a mistake in Shrewsbury’s defence to open the scoring before two more close-range finishes completed a memorable hat-trick.

“He's brilliant,” Lockyer said post-match. “I think he was unplayable at times today, and I've just seen the third goal back, and the finish was really good because that cross came in on a bobbly pitch, and it sat up.

“I know he's scored a lot of goals, but he hasn't been in them of late, and it would be easy for him to snatch at that one and miss the target, but he had the composure for the touch and a quick finish.
