GERHARD Struber admitted the fact Bristol City have received transfer interest in Zak Vyner this summer is “not a surprise,” but the Robins boss hopes the defender will still be a City player beyond today’s transfer deadline.
Vyner, who started the 4-2 win over Hull City on Saturday afternoon, has been the subject of speculation throughout the summer transfer window. Belgian club Gent were linked with the academy graduate, Derby County are understood to have seen a £1 million bid rejected for his services, and now Wrexham are said to be eyeing a late move for him.
Reports emerged from Sky Sports during the Robins’ win over the Tigers that the Hollywood-backed Championship side are in talks with City over the 28-year-old, having already seen a £1.75 million bid rejected.
When asked by the Bristol Post if he could provide an update on such speculation, Struber said: “I think that Zak Vyner has offers from different clubs, it's not a surprise for me. He is, in the end, a very important player, and we can see it in every game, how important is he for the club, for the team.
