Football Bristol City Women's new owners unveiled
Bristol Post
|September 19, 2025
MULTI-CLUB ownership group Mercury13 has acquired a majority stake in Bristol City Women, the Robins have announced, with the Lansdown family set to hand over stewardship of the Women’s side to the group, writes Daniel Carter.
After more than a decade of investment into the Reds, both during their time as Bristol Academy and Bristol City Women, the Lansdowns will retain a minority shareholding in the club, with Mercury13 instead aiming to help the Robins win promotion back to the WSL.
City Women’s new majority shareholders are a multi-club ownership group focused on acquiring controlling stakes in professional women’s teams across Europe with the aim of becoming the benchmark in the women’s club ownership industry by identifying and investing in the clubs of the next decade.
This acquisition is the first of its kind in English football and Mercury13’s second investment in European football, after its entry into the Italian Serie A with its purchase of Como Women last year.
