STAYING IN THE CAPITAL FOR UNDER £40 PER NIGHT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE... CHRISTOPHER SHARP TRIES TO REST IN PEACE INSIDE A ZEDWELL TINY CAPSULE COCOON
-
I'M NOT especially looking forward to dying, but as an agnostic, I have no set belief about what comes after it.
One thing I do know is that at some point after dying, I may find myself in a coffin of some sort. This was one of my first thoughts after entering one of Zedwell’s Capsule Cocoons at their Piccadilly Circus venue.
The “Cocoons” are small, windowless boxes (220cm long, 100cm wide, and 100cm in height) that can be yours for as little as £36 a night. Stacked in columns of two, they are an option for those looking to spend very little on a central London stay.
The location is undeniably good, just a stone’s throw from Soho and a short walk from Hyde Park and Green Park.
But what is it actually like to spend a night in one, and how much does it cost?
As with all hotels, prices vary by day and room type. While all cocoons are the same size, prices fluctuate. At the time of writing, the cheapest January stay was £35.82 on January 12/13. For an extra £5, you can rent a small towel.
