Bristol Airport Upgrade plan moves on with departures lounge overhaul

WORK is starting on the next phase of Bristol Airport's Transformation Programme, which includes a £60 million development to create a larger departure lounge with upgraded facilities and more passenger options.
The expansion of the current departure lounge is a key element of the terminal transformation, which is now under way and set to span the next five years. This latest phase will see new shops and restaurants begin to open from spring 2027, with the full completion of the departure lounge transformation set for January 2029.
According to the airport's plans, the number of shops and restaurants in the departure lounge will increase by almost double, with 17 new units joining the area.
These additions include a mix of premium retail brands, dining options, and a 'hidden' speakeasy bar. New retail units and additional seating areas will also be installed to provide passengers with more comfort.
