The Moomins work their magic as ELLIE KENDALL finally gets the bubble tea boom
-
I HAVE never really been a fan of boba before.
Part rebelling against the hype and part the fact that family and friends would be desperate to get me as hooked on the stuff as them, I just didn’t have any interest in it. Give me an “ordinary” drink any day.
But then I visited the Moomin cafe in Bristol, and my mindset changed.
A lover of a gimmick and novelty, and a HUGE fan of cartoon characters The Moomins, I took a trip to the recently opened Moomin cafe by CUPP. The Park Row venue, which has been serving up bubble tea and other Taiwanese-inspired treats for years, unveiled a major makeover dedicated to all things Moomins and Moominvalley.
The Bristol-born brand CUPP, which now has a presence nation-wide, promised at the time that the new branch will offer a “one-of-a-kind experience for boba tea lovers, families and Moomin fans alike” and an “adorable, immersive, photo-ready space inspired by the magical world of Moominvalley”.
Walking up to the venue, there was no queue at this time late morning on a rainy Tuesday. And this was a relief after the lengthy queues on opening day.
