Bin days New smart tech to help residents

RESIDENTS will be given new smart tech to remind them when bin day is and what waste goes in each recycling container by using their mobile phone camera.

- Adam POSTANS Local Democracy Reporter

It follows teething problems as South Gloucestershire Council moved to a new waste contract last year which included the first major changes to kerbside collection days and, in some cases, weeks, in more than 20 years, with black bin rounds reducing from two to threeweekly from this May.

A report to the cross-party scrutiny commission said one of the main problems in the move from a 25-year PFI contract, which expired in August, to a new operating model was that not all householders were aware their bin day had changed.
