BLUES BOSS MCCANN ADMITS HIS FUTURE AT CLUB IS UP IN THE AIR
BILLERICAY Town manager Gary McCann feels that their play-off defeat will take a long time to recover from.
The New Lodge men went into last Wednesday's play-off semi-final against Dover Athletic having been pipped to the Isthmian League Premier title by Horsham by just one goal.
Having felt that they had managed to put that heartbreak to one side during training on the Monday night, Billericay were left 'devastated' once again as Dover snatched a dramatic 2-1 extra-time win at New Lodge.
Femi Akinwande looked to have sealed a dramatic win for the Blues with his goal in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time, however, Alfie Matthews sent this play-off clash to extra time with a goal two minutes later.
With the match looking like it was heading to penalties, Matthews struck again for the Whites in the 119th minute and break the hearts of those of a Blue persuasion.
"Devastated if I am being honest," McCann told the club website after the game. "I felt pretty flat and pretty low after Saturday's disappointment, after a good training session on Monday it was the good pick that I needed, definitely what the team needed.
