'Crazy' and 'stupid' place to put a care home warn residents upset by plans

RESIDENTS living near fields that will soon be turned into hundreds of houses and a large care home in Shen-field have said they hope the new residents are “deaf”, given how close they are to the very noisy A12.
Developer Redrow has started construction on 191 homes, while in less than six months Countryside Homes will start its project for 142 houses and a care home project on land off Mountnessing roundabout - dubbed a “hellish place” by Brentwood’ Borough Council's planning committee chairman Councillor Phil Mynott.
Resident Cigden Aslan, who was refused planning permission in 2020 to turn her garage into a second child’s bedroom due to green belt issues, said it was a “crazy place” to put a care home and questioned whether the infrastructure could handle so much extra development.
Since her failed planning application, fields around her home have been designated for housing.
Four developers - Croudace Homes, Redrow Homes, Countryside Properties, and Stonebond Properties - all have house-building projects in the local area.
Besides the nearly 350 homes being built between Countryside and Redrow, Croudace has permission for 344 homes and a new primary school, while Stonebond has permission for 38 new houses.
Cigden said: “It really annoys me that they have now offered the whole of that green area, which is blocking my view.
“It’s a crazy place to put a care home. I don’t know what the safety issues are going to be there.
