Man is jailed after dangerous driving led to wife's death

A MAN caused the death of his wife and injured four others in a crash by driving dangerously. Asen Kurtev was travelling towards Spalding on the A16 on March 4, 2024, when the Vauxhall Zafira he was driving collided with an oncoming Volkswagen Scirocco.
The collision occurred at around 6.50am, whilst Kurtev had been driving his wife and three colleagues to work.
He was running late at the time, and had overtaken other vehicles as he headed towards Spalding.
It was when he carried out a further overtake that he collided head-on with the oncoming Volkswagen, despite the driver braking and steering to try and avoid a collision.
The driver of the oncoming Volkswagen suffered serious injuries, including fractures and has since undergone surgery for his injuries.
