Concerns about our police force reducing crime

THE Chief Constable of Lincolnshire Police has confirmed that cuts will be made to the force in a matter of months if more financial assistance is not secured.

Days after the head of Lincolnshire Police warned there would be more difficult months ahead, the force has confirmed that its staffing numbers could be reduced by around 20 per cent from October 2025.

This comes as the full PEEL report is published on the force by His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary, which assesses the efficiency, effectiveness and legitimacy of a force. The inspection of Lincolnshire Police began in March 2024 and finished in November, with the force being placed in the enhanced monitoring phase, Engage, last December.

The report has found that Lincolnshire Police is inadequate in responding to the public, investigating crime, managing offenders and suspects, and in its leadership and management. It also requires improvement in how it protects vulnerable people, protects the workforce, prevents and deters crime and anti-social behaviour, and in regards to police powers and treating the public fairly and respectfully.
