Alarm bells over immigration views
Blairgowrie Advertiser
|May 20, 2025
When Nigel Farage stood up in the House of Commons last week to praise Keir Starmer, he wasn't being sarcastic.
Starmer, he said, had finally come round to his way of thinking on immigration - and you could see the satisfaction all over his face.
For those of us in Scotland, that should set alarm bells ringing.
Because while Farage gloats, Starmer's new migration plans threaten to hammer our NHS, decimate our care sector and damage the very communities that rely on international workers to function.
Under Labour's proposals, visas for care workers will be scrapped and settlement will be made harder.
The rhetoric has darkened, and the policies are following close behind.
