Our Blackpool cast list of star actors reaches the letter W with memories of Jack Warner (1894-1981) facing the BBC cameras as PC George Dixon in the long-running Dixon of Dock Green.
"Evenin' all" was his greeting as the friendly London bobby who gave a prologue to each episode.
But turning the page back to Jack Warner's stage career we find two characters who were just as popular as PC Dixon.
He was the central soldier character in the BBC radio show Garrison Theatre in the early days of World War Two and came to Blackpool in a stage version at the Opera House for three weeks in the autumn of 1940.
His second bite at fame was as Pa in the Huggett Family series of films in the late '40s, continuing on radio until 1954.
