Dear PDSA, my dog has recently gained weight, and I'm sure he's now overweight. How can I know his ideal weight? Josh.

Hi Josh, it's great you want to know your dog's ideal weight, as being overweight can have quite an impact on their overall health. Reducing your dog's weight could improve their quality of life as well as add some years onto their life expectancy. Cutting out treats is a great start as they tend to be high in calories. Ask your vet for advice on what your dog's weight should be and measure out their daily food intake for the target weight to avoid accidentally overfeeding.
