Motorists get on board Operation Snap to keep roads safe

Danger drivers caught in the act on dash cameras

FOOTAGE of a dangerous driver narrowly missing a mum pushing a pram on a zebra crossing is just one of the shocking crimes captured on dashcam and sent to the police team tasked with stamping out bad driving.

In another clip, a motorist apparently puffs on a gold balloon while at the wheel and on a busy motorway.

A taxi driver is also seen using his phone in his lap with both hands while halted at a traffic light in a third.

The footage was sent in by the public to Operation Snap, a police initiative to catch out bad driving across the West Midlands.

The Birmingham Post had a behind-the-scenes look at the operation.

It appears many drivers do not even realise they've committed a crime and will face punishment for their transgression.

Inside the police HQ at Lloyd House, the 11-strong team review up to 80 submissions a day sent in via the online portal.
