Work resumes at JLR plant after cyber hack

JAGUAR Land Rover (JLR) has restarted manufacturing at its Wolverhampton engine plant, marking a significant step in its recovery from the severe cyber attack that compelled the Midlands carmaker to suspend production for over a month.

The automotive giant confirmed it had initiated a “controlled, phased restart of operations” following the attack, which impacted its IT systems on August 31 and disrupted production across its factories in Solihull, Wolverhampton, and Halewood on Merseyside.
The resumption followed JLR’s extension of its production halt until at least October 1, while engineers endeavoured to secure its systems and restore operations.
The manufacturer, which typically produces about 1,000 cars a day, is now counting the huge cost of the shutdown.
