A TRIP TO THE ARCH IS NOT TO BE SNIFFED AT AS KLARER CRAVES THE SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS

- By ALEX DICKEN

Wembley has an emotional pull for Blue-NOSE!

CHRISTOPH Klarer’s phone is flooded with messages of congratulations but there is only one he is looking for.

Blues have just beaten Bradford, courtesy of a late Lyndon Dykes header, to seal their place in the Vertu Trophy final and a first trip to Wembley in 14 years.

We know Wembley is special for English players, but it holds a special memory for this 24-year-old Austrian too.

“The first time I went to Wembley was actually with my parents in 2012, we were on holiday,’ said Klarer. “As soon as we beat Bradford they sent me a few videos of me lifting the FA Cup at Wembley! We went on a tour and it’s going to be special for us to be back there.”

Klarer, who will be joined by his parents and wife, has visited the national stadium in an official capacity too. When he was a youth team player at Southampton, he watched their FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea in 2018.
