VICTIM WAS HIT BY CAR WHICH HAD DONE 80MPH

- CARL JACKSON Court Reporter

THIS is the first picture of a speeding drink-driver who killed a young man on the Aston Expressway and then fled the scene.

Saqlane Zafar was also high on nitrous oxide when he ploughed a rented Audi SQ7 into the back of 21-year-old Ryan Sandhu's Ford Fiesta on the A38(M) shortly after midnight on June 2 last year.

Moments before he had been doing more than 80mph, despite the 50mph limit, and using closed lanes to undertake traffic which had been queuing in the roadworks.

My Sandhu, pictured right, who had been on his way home, suffered a fatal head injury and died at the scene.

Zafar, aged 28, of Woodlands Road, Saltley, had pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving.
