Parking permit plans to end QE nightmare

PARKING woes in clogged up streets near Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth hospital could be tackled through new measures being considered by the city council.
The authority is proposing a resident permit scheme on certain roads near the University of Birmingham and the QE site amid "significant pressures on parking".
In online consultations launched this week, the council said that recent expansions at the university and hospital site means more people are now travelling to the area.
"Together with new homes and an increase in car ownership, there are now significant pressures on parking in local streets," it said. "This can have a negative impact on access for deliveries, buses and waste vehicles, and on the safety of all road users."
